New Year’s Fitness Resolution

January 5th, 2015 Niagara Fitness

It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year… New Year’s Resolution Time!!

It’s that time of year again where we all get a fresh new start. A chance to hit the reset button on our lives and reassess things that have slipped through our fingers in recent months, like fitness. There’s a good reason that most people put “Exercise More” on their New Year's Resolution lists, because we all realize that our health is the single most important thing in our lives that we have some control over.

But how can we make sure we stick to our new years resolution of “Exercise More”? Here are 3 ways to help you stay on track and keep that resolution alive and well for the entire year!

Create Realistic Goals… The reason why fitness quickly falls off the radar of our “New Self” in the new year, is because the resolution is much too vague. “Exercise more” is too easy to pass up on and will almost always never even start. Quantify your resolution ie. 10lbs. or 20lbs., and create a plan to help achieve that goal. Your goal doesn’t have to be related to weight either, you can set goals for number of steps a day, amount of activity a day, or using that treadmill 3 times a week! Write your goals and plan down and put them in a place where you look everyday and you will be more likely to follow through.

Make an Investment in Yourself… The purchase of a quality piece of exercise equipment or a year long membership to a gym, can most certainly help you follow through with you resolution. With cost of living being so expensive these days, we often overlook spending on our health when in actuality, that should be #1 on our list! A financial commitment to your health is great way to ensure that you stay on top of your health in 2015. Even though Boxing Week has passed there are still huge sales on high quality Life Fitness equipment. You can save up to $600 OFF Life Fitness treadmills at Niagara/Hamilton Fitness Solutions!

Create Some Competition… You will be much more likely to follow through on your resolution if you know that winning something is on the line. Here at Niagara/Hamilton Fitness Solutions, we have started a challenge amongst the employees. Here’s how it works – All participants were weighed in this morning and paid $20 to enter the competition. They have two months, ending on March 2nd to lose as much weight as possible. The participant who loses the greatest percentage of their overall weight wins the entire pot of about $200. Not only is the money important, but it is the satisfaction of achieving weight loss that really makes this competition attractive. We have made the competition in hopes to build lifestyle habits that will continue long after the challenge ends. Updates will be placed on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook throughout the competition, so hit the LIKE button and follow along. Hopefully others create their own competition and lose those extra pounds they have always wanted to shed.

In 2015, make health a big part of your life moving forward and find ways to incorporate exercise into your week. It doesn’t take much and by following at least 1 of the 3 methods above, you will be closer to achieving that new and improved you. Good Luck!
